Frequently Asked Questions

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

Countless scientific trials examining doula care demonstrate remarkably improved physical and psychological outcomes for both pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people and their baby. Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family. You don't necessarily need a doula, but most people want one!

As a Postpartum Doula what services do you provide?

As your postpartum doula, I provide emotional, physical, and informational support to the new mum and their family during the postpartum period.

This can include assistance with breastfeeding, newborn care education, emotional support, and helping the family adjust to their new roles.

I assist you with postpartum recovery by providing practical support such as meal preparation, light household chores, allowing the new mother to focus on rest and bonding with their newborn.

How soon after birth can I start receiving postpartum support?

You can start receiving postpartum support immediately after birth. It's beneficial to plan for postpartum care as soon as you are expecting to ensure a smooth transition for you and your family.

What is your experience and training as a doula?

I embarked on various courses and adventures aimed at deepening my understanding of birth-related practices. From Goa, India, where I trained in Ayurveda Nutrition and Cooking, to the sunny shores of Miami, where I earned my certification in Prenatal Yoga Khalsa Way with the wonderful Gurmuk Khalsa, and back to the cosy corners of Spain and the UK, I have participated in workshops with Dr Michel O’dent, Naoli Vinaver and Aixa Laxmi, each stop along the way has gifted me invaluable insights and lessons.

What is your approach to supporting clients during the postpartum period?

My approach to supporting clients during the postpartum period is rooted in both my maternal instinct and professional expertise. I provide nurturing care to both new mothers and their newborns, ensuring that every aspect of postpartum care is thoughtfully addressed.

The postpartum period is often an overlooked part of planning for a baby, with many assuming they can "wing it" or rely solely on family help. However, this approach can undermine a parent's confidence, leading to anxiety, overwhelm, and stress. My goal is to prevent these challenges by offering comprehensive support that allows parents to fully enjoy the early days with their baby.

By addressing both the practical and emotional needs of new parents, I help them build confidence and create a positive, nurturing environment for their growing family.
